Our Servers Now Go To 11

Volume Knob turned to ElevenIn our ongoing effort to bring everlasting joy and happiness to our customers, I’m pleased to announce that as of September 1, 2009 we have increased a few worthwhile, and necessary, allocations to our current shared, dedicated and VPS plans.

The actual changes are outlined below, but I wanted to take a moment and let everyone know that these changes are a direct result of customer request and feedback. Believe it or not, we DO listen to customer feedback, and we’re going to listen even more. We have another blog post that talks about how we’re leaping into Social Media with both feet: Twitter, blogging, audio, video – you name it, we’re going to experiment with it, and we’re going to invite your participation as well. Social Media is, after all, “social”.

Additionally, this is being done at no cost to customers, new or continuing. We are NOT raising any pricing, nor are we cutting allocations in other areas to account for these increases. We are giving you more of what you need…no strings attached.

Okay, enough soapbox – on to the details of what is changing:

Shared Plans Old mail space New mail space
.NET 3.5 & CF 8 Intermediate 2,000 MB 4,000 MB
.NET 3.5 & CF 8 Advanced 2,000 MB 6,000 MB
.NET 3.5 & CF 8 Premier 2,000 MB 8,000 MB
.NET 3.5 Semi-dedicated 2,000 MB 10,000 MB
CFMX or CF8 Semi-dedicated 2,000 MB 10,000 MB

VPS Plans Old Bandwidth New Bandwidth
512 MB Hyper-V VPS 125 GB 250 GB
1 GB Hyper-V VPS 250 GB 500 GB
2 GB Hyper-V VPS 500 GB 2,000 GB

Dedicated Plans Old Bandwidth New Bandwidth
Pentium D 250 GB 1,000 GB
Xeon Dual-Core 500 GB 5,000 GB
Xeon Quad-Core 750 GB 10,000 GB
RAID 5 Dual Quad-Core 1250 GB A Ton**

As I mentioned, all of these changes go into effect on September 1, 2009, and EVERYONE gets to participate: new customers and existing customers alike. So enjoy – and just to let you in on a little secret: we’re not done just yet, so stay tuned!

**A Ton = 50,000GB, or more than you’ll be able to use even running full bore, 24×7. We were going to label this Plan as offering “unmetered” bandwidth, but our systems do actually measure all bandwidth usage, so the “unmetered” designation isn’t valid. And as for that other “U” word – unlimited – there really is no such thing as there are inherent limitations in hardware and network infrastructure that put limits on usage.

We also increased email disk space for our “legacy” shared plans. All customers currently on any .NET 2.0 Shared and ColdFusion 7.0 Shared also have more mail space. These plans include the .NET 2.0 PHP4/5 Intermediate, Advanced and Premier, ColdFusion 7.0 PHP4/5 and corresponding Semi-Dedicated Plans.

“Legacy” Shared Plans Old mail space New mail space
.NET 2.0 & CFMX 7 Intermediate 2,000 MB 4,000 MB
.NET 2.0 & CFMX 7 Advanced 2,000 MB 6,000 MB
.NET 2.0 & CFMX 7 Premier 2,000 MB 8,000 MB
.NET 2.0 Semi-dedicated 2,000 MB 10,000 MB
CFMX or CF8 Semi-dedicated 2,000 MB 10,000 MB

  1. This is great news for those that needed more mail space.
Any chance the disk space will also be increased?

  2. When will the dedicated plans get at least as much shared SQL space as the lowest shared plans? This has been on the “To Do” list for two years now . . .

  5. Seth, we can’t do everything at once – people will get numbed to the announcement of changes and upgrades :) . Mail and bandwidth are a good starting point.

  8. Ditto on the request for more disk space. I have had to move some clients to other providers since disk space is so expensive here.
